Udimet Alloy 188 Properties

STEP 1

High-Temperature Strength

Surpasses most solidsolutionstrengthened nickel and FeNiCr grades by retaining structural integrity at temperatures where conventional alloys undergo softening.

STEP 2

Superior Oxidation Resistance

Chromium plus trace lanthanum forms a robust adherent oxide coating that effectively avoids hightemperature oxide spallation.

STEP 3

Hot Corrosion Resistance

Delivers reliable protection against sulfate hot corrosion, gaseous sulfidation and molten chloride attack.

STEP 4

Processing Feasibility

Favourable ductility enables hot/cold forming and conventional fusion welding including TIG and MIG processes.

Udimet Alloy 188 Applicaiton

Thanks to outstanding thermal and mechanical endurance, Udimet 188 is predominantly specified for hotzone components of aero and industrial gas turbines:

  • Combustor liners & combustion cans
  • Transition ducts
  • Flame stabilizers
  • Afterburner linings
  • Exhaust support frames and fuel spray bars
